Clemence
This is Clemence. A cute, little teddy bear at 6.5″. He has been hand woven on an 8 shaft hand loom using 100% silk yarn. The yarn was hand dyed to give him a graduated colour.

Frederick, an adorable teddy bear. Hand woven using 100% silk yarn, this gives him a soft luxurious feel. The glass eyes and cotter pin joints keep a traditional element, while the bright hand dyed yarn make him stand out among other teddy bears.
Meet Archer. He is a unique teddy bear, completely hand made. I have woven his fabric on a hand loom using 100% Tencel yarn, hand dyed to the right colours. He has glass eyes and is fully jointed. The glass beads inside give him a weighty feel.
This is a new warp I am weaving at the moment, I am exploring my use of colour through dip dying techniques. From my previous warps I like the graduation colour achieved with dip dying as well as the strong solid colour achieved by using stripes of solid colour. Here I have designed my warp to have both of these elements working together to create an exciting , colourful fabric. I am also still designing for window treatments and lighting, using fine cotton for see-through areas, thicker mercerised cotton for solid, opaque areas and leaving areas of warp empty for long weft floats. A leno will keep the warp in place.

This shows the inspiration for my final major uni project. I used corrosion of metals for visual inspiration, Nuno for technical inspiration and contemporary, high-end designer fabrics for interiors.

Below are a selection of print designs I have been creating in response to my weaving and rust research. I have developed an interest in repetition, the beauty of multiples, the rhythm of repetitive processes. Along side this I enjoy graduating colours, warm, rustic and bright colours. I love the way they lok hand drawn, repeats lik these can be created on a computer but they wouldn’t produce the same feelings and look as these.
